When serving the Chief Financial Officer on behalf of an insurance
company doing business in Florida, the summons MUST list the insurance
company EXACTLY as it is registered with the Florida Secretary of
State.
For example: State Farm Insurance Company by Serving the Chief
Financial Officer.
In addition to serving a governmental agency, Section 768.28(7),
Florida Statutes requires that in actions brought against a
municipality or governmental agency, service is also perfected on the
Chief Financial Officer. No extra copies of documents or payment of
$15.00 is required. Summons MUST show service on Chief Financial
Officer. |
